| The RoHS Directive and the UK RoHS regulations came into force in July 2006. It covers "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". |

RoHS bans the introduction of new electrical
and electronic equipment to the EU market containing higher than agreed levels of such hazardous substances. |

The hazardous substances and their maximum
allowed concentrations as defined under RoHS
are listed below: |

- Cadmium (Cd) and its compounds < 0.01%
- Lead (Pb) and its compounds < 0.1%
- Mercury and Chromium (Cr6+) < 0.1%
- Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB) < 0.1%
- Polybrominated Biphenyl Ether (PBDE) < 0.1%

| There are a number of exemptions for the use of such hazardous substances for specific technical applications where alternatives do not currently exist. |
